We are doing well here – very, very busy but feel like we are keeping our head above water. Saturday is IHOPU’s graduation, and we’ll be graduating about 75 students from all the different schools (School of Ministry, School of Music, etc.) – so we have spent a lot of the week praying over our Preaching Program students who are graduating. Joseph had two 4th years in his small group and I had three in mine. It’s amazing how much we have bonded with each of them and are so proud of their achievement in finishing school.
So… speaking of school!!! It was totally awesome to spend two weeks at Houghton in March. We were so encouraged by the student’s passion for prayer and their desire to live more for the Lord. We wish we could’ve had more time with them, but tried to make the most of the small amount that we did have.
We just heard news that 8 or 9 Houghton College students are planning to attend the Summer Leadership Intensive for college students here in Kansas City. I don’t think I’ve told you this yet but we were invited to jump in to help lead and teach. We’re still praying and waiting on that one – so if you think of us, pray for us about that. We’re so excited and can’t wait to spend a month with them and pray with and for them as they go back to Houghton College this fall. We carry Houghton in our hearts and we are so burdened to see students live for the Lord.
Here are some updates since the last time we connected…
For the last year I (Heba) have been a Section Leader, which pretty much means that I’m one of the Senior Managers of IHOP-KC’s 24/7 Prayer Room. I give leadership to about 300 staff and lead many of the prayer meetings each week. But because I’ve never been on a worship team and I’m not really a singer or musician, it can be easy to deal with feelings of inadequacy like, “Who am I to be leading and giving governance to these internationally known worship leaders and singers?” The Lord is really inviting me to be more confident in these areas, and get over my own fears and insecurities that I have.
Last October Joseph stepped in as the Director of Human Resources, so he’s been really busy as well. It’s amazing how the Lord has put us both in positions that are so outside our comfort zones. This is for sure a season where He is calling for us to “Arise, come up higher…”
One of the things that we have been praying for and contending for has been a breakthrough in our finances, and specifically that we would not be in any credit card debt as we start a family. Also, as I think I’ve mentioned – we want to build a bathroom in our downstairs apartment before I’m pregnant so I don’t have to run all the way upstairs!
So – there you go my friend! Like I always say – I am so grateful for our friendship.
