Extended Meetings @ IHOP-KC – How It Started

Extended Meetings Every month our staff gather together for three days of fasting and consecration before the Lord. We call this the Global Bridegroom Fast (click link for more info).

On the last day of the Global Bridegroom Fast (Wednesday, Nov 4) this month, the Holy Spirit began to move with a manifestation of God’s presence at the IHOPU Chapel. The main highlight was testimonies from students of receiving deliverance from self-hatred, shame and depression, as well as receiving physical healings.

As students experienced laughter and the joy of the Lord at the revelation of God’s love toward them, the rejoicing continued into Thursday’s (Oct 5) 6am IHOPU-focused prayer meeting. The move of the Holy Spirit has continued throughout the week in IHOPU classes and in various IHOPU leadership meetings.

One week later on Wednesday, November 11 at the 9am class with 1st year students, the Holy Spirit again came with deliverance and joy. It was still going at Noon when Heba and I came in for small groups with the 3rd & 4th Year APP students. When we arrived it was obvious that our plans were about to change and that small groups would be cancelled that day. We brought our students in and began to minister and pray for each other.

As it became clear to us that the Lord really was moving, I called my office staff and encouraged them to come over and join us. We closed down the office for the afternoon so that they could join in.

I had to leave at around 4:30pm for a meeting so I expected that things would be dwindling by the time I got done. There wasn’t yet much news going around about it other than what you saw on Twitter and Facebook.

At about 7pm Heba and I decided that we wanted to go back over to the meeting to see how things were going. As we drove up we knew that we had been mistaken. It was completely packed. Clearly the word had gotten out about what was happening and all of our staff wanted to be a part. The meeting continued through the night, until around 6am.

At 9am on Thursday (October 12), as classes were scheduled to begin, students gathered and the Holy Spirit again began to move on them. The IHOP-KC Leadership team made a decision to dismiss the students and begin holding nightly meetings through Sunday.
